vertical slider jQuery issue

I'm trying to use the 'vertical-news-slider' in Orchard (1.8.1) downloaded from Github:
  • the github demo version runs ok!
When implementing this slider in Orchard by
  • html definitions in a 'page CI' and the jQuery 'script' in a view 'Parts.Common.Body-url-VerticalTicker.cshtml.';
    see code below ...
    ... the slider works .... sort of, i.e.:
  • I see the slider BUT it won't start (never)!
    -HOWEVER; when clicking any slider item between the first and last item the slider starts correctly!
    But stops at the last item (for ever)!
I get an error code saying '0x800a138a - JavaScript runtime error: Function expected ' on ' (function() { '.
(this is something I appreciate!).

I'm not at all a jQuery guru and have never seen this type of 'script' code! But I wonder why then it starts to work
(see HOWEVER above).
PS: I'm certainly try to get in contact with the owner.
  • is anything to be done different in Orchard?
  • Can anybody give me a jQuery hint?
thanks for your time, ed
   Style.Include("");   /* edi */
   Script.Include("").AtHead(); /* edi */
    $(document).ready(function () {
   var _gaq = _gaq || [];
    _gaq.push(['_setAccount', 'UA-1965499-1']);

    $(function() {
      var ga = document.createElement('script'); ga.type = 'text/javascript'; ga.async = true;
      ga.src = ('https:' == document.location.protocol ? 'https://ssl' : 'http://www') + '';
      var s = document.getElementsByTagName('script')[0]; s.parentNode.insertBefore(ga, s);

Looks like you have a nested 'document ready' function:

$(document).ready( function(){...} ) is the same as $(function(){...}

well, I of course tested without the wrapping code: ' $(document).ready(function () { .... }); '. In fact the original jQuery is WITHOUT that wrapper.
But, as said, I get the very same behaviour as described in first msg.!

thanks for your time - might be you have another hint!
still hope to get a advise from the owner via Github, ed
