AzureDirectory Library for Lucene.Net

Topics: Customizing Orchard, General

Has anyone tried "AzureDirectory Library for Lucene.Net" on orchard search indexing feature?

Is there any future plan of introducing this library as part of Orchard core features?

I understand in the current implementation, lucene index files are stored in App_Data folder of the local cloud service instance. So every time there is a deployment, the search index has to be rebuilt entirely. It takes really a long time when 1000s of records to be indexed.

Yes, it runs under DotNest and all other Lombiq sites as part of the Lombiq Hsting Suite.

Is there any public Orchard module available which uses azuredirectory for lucene?

@Piedone: As far as I understand your link, this module is not free and not public available, right?

Yes, it's proprietary.

Wondering if anyone has attempted integration of azuredirectory in Lucene module (for Orchard 1.8.1)
Any pointers or suggestion would be of great help..

Hi Piedone!
Thanks for responding.. Yes! We've verified your post..
We are looking for open source modules.
The Hosting suite is licensed, hence I posted my query.

We're actually considering open-sourcing that module from the Hosting Suite. If you'd be interested contact me (just here through CP) and we can talk about giving you a preview :-).

What I mean to say is, you'd be saving me some time if you released it.

At least you know I would send you pull requests if i found a bug... ;)

In which contexts would an Azure Directory be better than the default local filesystem implementation, as long as you are using an Azure Web Site ?

Easier deployment, since you can wipe out the whole application directory.

I guess in some extreme cases it would also matter that you can buy more Blob Storage if you need but the local storage of MAWS has a limit.

Hi Piedone!

Great to know that you are planning to open source the module. I'm definitely interested to know more about this module..
Apologies for delay in responding :-)
