We noticed that a lot of questions are being cross-posted here and on various other discussion boards/Q&A sites (most notably Stack Overflow).
It complicates things a lot. To keep things clear and have a better chance of getting a response (or a chance of getting a better response), please adhere to the following rules:
- Cross-posting is not a good thing - avoid it. Most people here track both the discussion board and Stack Overflow.
- Post once. Make sure the details of your scenario/problem/issue are described in one place only (and, overstating the obvious, make sure the description is well-worded with all homework done - read
docs and ask
uncle Google first before writing)
- Links, links, links! If you still think that cross-posting is ok then, instead of copying and pasting, link to existing question from point 2. This will help your responders be on the same page and save their time (sacrificing half an hour
to answer a question already answered somewhere else is not encouraging, believe me...) and, most importantly, increase your chances of getting a better response.
