Titles in Content Items List

Does anyone know how, if it's possible, to get some kind of useful title to content items? For example if I create a content type, Team Member, and then create a dozen or so of them, they appear in the content items list as "Team Member - Team Member". In order to find a particular team member the user has to go in and click each one. What would be a far more useful display is something like "Team Member - Bob Jones".

I realise that this might be solvable by a query, but for many lists the number of content items will be manageable. If it isn't, then a query can always be used.

Any way to get this behaviour?

The title from the Contents list is displayed using the metadata that any module can provide for a content item. The simplest way of getting a nice title is to add the Title Part to the content type, and users can then provide a custom title. If you want a dynamically generated title then you will need a custom module, with only a Content Handler.
