We've got an Orchard instance set up and have run into a major problem. If a user is an Orchard admin, they can blog and connect with LiveWriter perfectly. However, we have numerous users we want to blog, but definitely don't want them to be admins. While they
can blog with the built-in web page, it's less than optimal and they all want to use LiveWriter.
We want these users to ONLY
have rights to post blog entries to their blogs, not mess with anything else on the site. I've tried all combinations of settings and permissions and one would expect that Blog Author permissions would be sufficient but
it's not. What magic permissions gyrations do we need to set up to allow people to post to the blog with LiveWriter but
require giving everyone admin rights? All examples of setting up LiveWriter (even the docs on the Orchard site) just assume admin rights. I hope that's not a baked in assumption on the Orchard side. :)
Here's the errors encountered when setting up and trying to post from LiveWriter with a user with Author and/or Blog Author rights.
- In setting up the account through LiveWriter, the Orchard blogging settings are recognized but when prompted to download the blog theme, the theme can't be downloaded and this error message is reported:
The blog theme couldn't be downloaded.
You will be able to post to this blog, but you won't be able to see the blog theme while editing posts.
- When attempting to post to the blog from LiveWriter, you get the ever informative error message below:
Server Error 0 Occurred
A security exception occurred in the content management system.
