Intended use of the Owner field

Hi All,

Let's take Owner field on the New Blog page as an example. It appears that it defaults to reflect a signed in user. At the same time it can be edited.

So, my question is twofold:

1) How is the value of the field is being used by Orchard? Essentially, what is it for?

2) What is the reason for it being editable? Maybe a scenario when it is useful.

Thanks,

The owner of an item has different permissions Try to edit a role and you'll see lots of permissions that refer to the owner. It can be changed so you can assign it to someone and give them those permissions implicitly.
