Convert HTML template to Theme?

I am very new to Orchard so this may sound like a dumb question, but.....

Is there a step by step example of converting an HTML template to an Orchard Theme?

I found the following link useful, but could do with a more detailed step by step example.

Any help appreciated.

Paul.

Actually that's a great question. I don't think I have seen one yet, but rest assured that it's a matter of time. Meanwhile, please use these forums to ask us. Some general tips:

  1. Use codegen to create the initial Theme project (check the docs on how to do that)
  2. Enable the Shape Tracing feature to help you identify the shapes that you want to overwrite.
  3. Look often to the ThemeMachine on how they do things. Download other themes as well, investigate.
  4. If you get stuck: Ask, be patient, rest a while, try again :)

Good luck and enjoy!

FYI: I'm trying to convince people we should use Orchard for our new company wesite. We are using a design agency to create the PSD and convert it to an HTML template. My job will be to fit the HTML into an existing Theme (ThemeMachine). The following link describes the process of merging the themes Layout.cshtml with the templates HTML, CSS and JavaScript files.

It would really help me if someone could extend the above article to include a step by step walk through.

Thanks for your help.

Paul.
