Where is the right place to put these tags in the web.config??

Hi,
I have created a custom module with a aspx webform with a report view control, the control creates a number of tags for me in the web config:
    <httpHandlers>
      <add path="Reserved.ReportViewerWebControl.axd" verb="*" type="Microsoft.Reporting.WebForms.HttpHandler, Microsoft.ReportViewer.WebForms, Version=10.0.0.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=b03f5f7f11d50a3a" validate="false" />
    </httpHandlers>
    <buildProviders>
      <add extension=".rdlc" type="Microsoft.Reporting.RdlBuildProvider, Microsoft.ReportViewer.WebForms, Version=10.0.0.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=b03f5f7f11d50a3a" />
    </buildProviders>

    <handlers>
      <add name="ReportViewerWebControlHandler" preCondition="integratedMode" verb="*" path="Reserved.ReportViewerWebControl.axd" type="Microsoft.Reporting.WebForms.HttpHandler, Microsoft.ReportViewer.WebForms, Version=10.0.0.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=b03f5f7f11d50a3a" />
    </handlers>
Here is my full webconfig for my modul:
<?xml version="1.0"?>
<configuration>
  <configSections>
    <sectionGroup name="system.web.webPages.razor" type="System.Web.WebPages.Razor.Configuration.RazorWebSectionGroup, System.Web.WebPages.Razor, Version=1.0.0.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=31BF3856AD364E35">

    </handlers>
  </system.webServer>
</configuration>
When i run orchard and goes to my web form page i got the following exception on the <buildProviders> tag: The element 'buildProviders' cannot be defined below the application level.

i have tried to extract the tags from the webconfig and placed them in the main web.config for the solution. But then i got the following exception:

System.InvalidOperationException: The WebResource.axd handler must be registered in the configuration to process this request.
<!-- Web.Config Configuration File -->

<configuration>
 <system.web>
<httpHandlers>
<add path="WebResource.axd" verb="GET" type="System.Web.Handlers.AssemblyResourceLoader" validate="True" />
</httpHandlers>
</system.web>
</configuration>
I have added the requested <httpHandlers> from above but i still get the same error on the <httpHandlers> <add path="WebResource.axd"...
I have made the same maneuver in a comon MVC 3 application project and got everything to working and display my report view control, with the same config tags
as i presented above, so with that i mind the problem seems to bee with the web.config in orchard.
Can someone plz help me with where i should put them? Thx in regard.

woow that came up alittle strange above^^ hopefully u can read it and make some seens of it....

Mar 28, 2012 at 3:27 PM

Why don't yo paste your Orchard.Web\web.config (with your modifications)? Also make sure your httpHandler is put into the Orchard.web\web.config, and that it's added before the catch-all entry that will reject any other types not matched before it (<add path="*" verb="*" type="System.Web.HttpNotFoundHandler"/>).

Thx for ur replay Monarch,  u where prob right about the httpHandler tag i moved them above and got it to partially work.. I got alot of javascript errors from the report view control instead of an error in my web.config...  Here is my web.config anyway:

I will se if i can get a way for my report viewer to work without all the javascript errors...

Thx again anyway

I have been searching the web conserning the javascript errors i get when i try to render the report view control, i have found similar posts on other forums and  found this:

"It appears I was using the wrong version of the report viewer control. Changing project and web.config reference from v9 to v10 of the Microsoft.ReportViewer.WebForms assembly has fixed the issue".

I have checked my recources and i have the right version of my control. The wierd thing is that it works in a MVC 3 application but with the same code in orchard i got alot of js errors... So i still think its something wrong with my web.config or something that is specific to orchard..

Have anyone tried to implement a report control into a custom module in orchard?

You shouldn't use webforms with Orchard.

Well i know its not the very best to mix webforms with orchard, but i can´t realy understand why?, Because mixing webforms and MVC aren´t a problem, how come its a problem with orchard?.

In my case i wanted to implement i report viewer control, that is not the easiest thing to do in MVC, thats why i want to use a webform, anyway i got it to work after some effort, without any side effects on other functionallity in orchard.

Because we decided from the start to spend zero time on making it work (we even spent time disabling it). We just didn't want to deal with it.
