Override core layout shape

We have the need to override the default Layout shape that is being defined in the CoreShapes class. We need to add an extra document zone called filter in the wrapper. So we would have layout.Head, layout.Body, layout.Tail and layout.Filter. While i'm able to add this to the OnCreated event of the Layout shape we do not want to modify the core project. Is there a way to do this in our own module, theme? I'm currently looking into the use of the ContentShapeProvider : IShapeTableProvider class. In here i'm able to change the wrapper for the Layout shape but I'm not able to add the extra zone to the shape. I think this is because I'm doing this in the OnDisplaying event which comes in to play to late. If i try to do it with the OnCreated event here, it doesn't do anything.

So is there a way to achieve this without modifying the CoreShapes file?

Thanks in advance.

Never mind this question, I was making things to complicated. I didn't realize you could just add zones to your wrapper file. Think we can manage it this way.
