Best way to create a blog with post thumbnail images?

Hi,

We would like to have a thumbnail image for a blog post. The thumbnail image would be displayed for each blog post on the blog landing page. What is the best way to achieve this?

I would like to try to use existing features (eg: add content type perhaps?) but as a developer I can create custom module if required.

Any advice appreciated.

You'll want to use the ImageResizer library. There are a few modules on the gallery that do screenshots. One example is http://gallery.orchardproject.net/List/Modules/Orchard.Module.Mello.ImageGallery

Or the Image Field.

Thanks for the answers. I am just getting started with Orchard. So far I have Orchard 1.3 installed with no custom modules.

The layout we want for the blog would be to have an image selected by the author of the blog post displayed next to the blog highlight. This site uses the layout http://channel9.msdn.com/

@bertrandleroy This module looks like it would help with getting images loaded in the media library at the right size. Thanks.

Is there a tutorial or guide to extending the blog content type?

@sebastienros I don't see an image field in the content types that have been installed with Orchard 1.3. Is this something I need to load from the gallery?

An image field, like all fields, is something you *add* to a content type, it is not a content type itself. Seems like it is exactly what you need.

When I add a field to a content part the only Field Type I have available to TextField.

You probably didn't install and enable the image field module then.
