Has anyone considered using structured markup such as that offered by schema.org with Orchard to improve their visibility in search engines?

(FYI: schema.org is a joint effort between Microsoft, Google and Yahoo)

Do you know of any website that uses them ?

This kind of data annotation / microformat is a particularly good fit for a CMS like Orchard. Drupal has had RDF as a core feature since 7 for example, but Microdata won as it is now the standard for HTML 5. It should be possible to implement this through handlers that add attributes to shapes on the fly based on info gleaned from the content items.

I'd vote for these, would be very useful.

Any progress on this front ?  I need to integrate data that I will be getting from SPARQL endpoints into an Orchard Site ... in particualr I want to embed Microdata tags that are defined in the RDF/OWL ontology into my MVC Views

I started an extremely simple implementation here: http://orchardmicrodata.codeplex.com/
Be aware that it is not fully functioning yet (not all of the items will be rendered with actual values yet).
It's a start nonetheless, please contribute / provide feedback.
