Add a cleanup button to TinyMCE to remove unwanted inline styles

description

Pasting rich text into TinyMCE includes inline styles that attempt to keep the source's styles whereas we are usually only interested in semantics so it can integrate with the target site but still retain richness.
This plug-in may be a good starting point: http://sourceforge.net/tracker/index.php?func=detail&aid=1228324&group_id=103281&atid=738747

That one is from 2006. There is a plugin in the main set of tinymce plugins that I think provides what you're looking for:

http://www.tinymce.com/wiki.php/Plugin:paste

This is being used in the TinyMceDeluxe module by default, and it worked great in one of our Orchard sites. Our content editors pasted in 100+ articles from MS Word and the extra styling that usually comes when pasting from Word was almost all removed. We just enabled the plugin and didn't do any configuration on top of that. If we tweaked the options and hooked into some of the callbacks we probably could have cleaned the remaining 1% of Word styling that still made it into the pasted content.

I am still expecting a version of TMCE which would not remove the <span class='xxxx'></span> I could enter in the html view or paste from a bootstrap template I bought or built
