Windows Live Writer can't detect blog type

  1. Set up a brand-new installation of Orchard, as http://machine/Orchard/, using the Default recipe.
  2. Create a new blog, named "Another Blog", as http://machine/Orchard/b/another. Don't set it as the home page.
  3. From another computer, start Windows Live Writer 2011. Add a blog account. Enter "http://machine/Orchard/b/another" as the address and enter a valid username and password combination.
  4. WLW is unable to detect the blog type and prompts you to choose.

Scratch that. I was attempting to reproduce a problem I'd seen earlier where promoting/demoting a blog as the home page confused WLW. This time, I'd forgotten to enable the Remote Blog Publishing feature.

OK. With Remote Blog Publishing enabled, it works fine, unless you try to include a forward slash in the slug used for the blog. Then WLW is unable to detect the blog type.

I have the same problem. It's exactly as rlipscombe said, if I put a slash in the slug of the blog WLW is unable to detect the blog type.
Problem is I want behaviour like a blogs subsite, http://machine/blogs/steve for example.

Also want it this way so navigation works using the Advanced Menu.

Where would I find the metablog api url (or whatever I need to make live writer work) ?

Actually this yet another problem that gets fixed in 1.4 with Autoroute/Alias, since the blog routing (and Remote Blog Publishing which uses "{blogPath}/rsd") is being completely rewritten to new system. Actually, from the way the routes are set up, a blog should literally not work at all on a sub path right now, let alone WLW being able to find it.

Windows Live Writer 2012 cannot find the blog as well. Treid to put just the root path of the Orchard Site and let WLW find the blog - no Chance - WLW still Needs the blogtype. What can we do to get WLW 2012 work again with Orchard 1.7?
