Hi All,
I am using the orchard to manage some items right now, there are several users using CMS to manage the content items, and each item can only be reached by the owner, there is a requirement to creat a function about delegate management, here is an example,
  • User1 is a first user, and creates all the data for item1.
  • User2 is the delegated/backup user for the item1
  • Is there any way for User2 that only has access to data where owner=User1? User2 could then manage User1’s data, and User2 would show as the last updated name if they did modify data. User2 might also be the owner of other items.
since right now only the owner can reach his own item, is there any idea for the exaple requirement?

You could use the Content Permissions Part so you can control access to a particular content item by role. Then, if both User1 and User2 are part of that role, both can manage that content item. Next, you could implement a content handler or workflow that dynamically sets the content permissions of newly created items.

Out of the box, you can't configure permissions based on a per-user level, but you could implement your own IAuthorizationServiceEventHandler implementation and do custom permission checking there, which could even be based on a custom content part where you can configure your authentication rule.
