Dear All,

I caught the video by Bertrand Le Roy on taxonomies in Orchard on YouTube. In this video he uses a widget to import a feed from NY Times as an example.

Please note that I’m in no way experienced in this. I am starting a company on a thin shoe string and cannot afford a website designer and so I’m having to learn how to put a fully functioning site together in double quick time.

I want to put an RSS feed to another site or two, on to my site.

I made contact with Bertrand, and he very kindly said that I should look for a specific piece of code. So I went looking in the various files and came up with this:

"blog import /BlogId:<id> /FeedUrl:<feed url> /Owner:<username>\r\n\t" + "Import all items from <feed url> into the blog specified by <id>"

I should then open the command window in the in the orchard cms1/ bin, which I have.

My blog is called "Middle East Business News"

so I entered the following;

blog import /BlogId:<Middle East Business News> /FeedUrl:< /Owner:<and my owners name>

This is apparently the wrong format!

So then I entered:

blog import /BlogId:<Middle East Business News> /FeedUrl: < /Owner:<my owners name>

and I got this response:

"Error executing command ""blog import.BlogId:Middle East Business News"" This is followed by
"No command found matching arguments""blog import/BlogId:Middle East Business News"". It then list the available commands.

I have tried variations on this but the response is the same.

On Bertrands example the word _slug _appears in the place of the 'Blog Id' the line is 'Slug:blog' . I even tried copying Bertrands example and set up a blog called blog but all I got was a response that 'Blog' could not be found etc.

Also the sites whose feeds I wish to use have a number of RSS feed for differing subjects so is it just a case of entering the code for each url individually untill I have all the feeds that I want for the blog?

I am quite sure that it is very simple but some how I am stuffing it up.

I have trawled my way through this forum but could not find any thing that made sense to me and I have looked accross the web but no joy.

Please may I ask for help and guidance on how to set this up? All I want to do is set up a RSS feed to put content into my webpage.

Kind rergards from a thoroughly clueless,

Are you trying to do a one-time import of a RSS feed?

Hi Bertrand.

I want to import RSS feed content to my site from other external sites, I want that content to be updated as those site update their content.

So should I assume that you only have to import each feed once and it then updates automatically?

Some sites have six or seven RSS feeds covering different topics. Is it possible to import those individual RSS feeds and have them on the same blog? Is it also possible to import an RSS feed from from an entirely different site at the same time and put it on the same blog?

I know these questions are all quite vapid but as I said I am a complete novice.
Thanks for your patience.

Not at all. This is simply not the right feature for you. The blog import command will do a one-time import.

Looks like this: or this: could be what you're looking for, or at least a good starting point.
