Hello there..

I'm evaluating Orchard and am very pleased with it, good craftsmanship and clever solutions.

But I'm a bit worried about the high number of projects, it's working fine as is, but I've a solutions which already consists of 80 projects.

I'm by no means very fond of spawning new projects, but many of them are legacy, and probably will continue to be so.

Right now the solution takes a while to start, and my fear is that porting those 80 projects into the Orchard-solution simply will force VS into knees.

My question is:
Is it possible to develop Orchard-modules etc. in another / clean solution and deploy locally into IIS with Orchard installed?

Yes, it's possible. Many people work with a minimalist solution. You can always build precompiled when time comes to deploy.

@janus007 There are a few methods to help speed up starting up from VS. See this Orchard Discussion.

There are also some other articles/blogs that discuss speeding stuff up but I don't have the links handy.
