I am trying to create an Alternate for a navigation I want to put in the footer of my page (see corresponding thread/post here).

Reading the documentation about Alternates I found this passage that looked like it would fit my problem:
For menu and menu item shapes:
Menu__[MenuName]. (Example template: Menu-main)
That (to me) looks like it would allow me to create a Menu-YourNavigationName.cshtml to overwrite the standard Menu.cshtml.

However: I can't set a name for my navigation! The only field in the backend is the title. Is this a bug? Or is this intentional?

As far as I know, tittle equals the name of the menu. :)

SantoDE is correct. If the Title of your menu is "Admin Menu", the shape name should be "Menu-admin-menu.cshtml".

I have several of these running in different layers on a site.
