Two questions:
  1. What is the release cycle like to get this version into the Web Platform Installer? I notice that it still specifies 1.7.0. Not that it's a huge deal because I can always upgrade, but it's just so easy to set up new sites with WebPI.
  2. Is there posted documentation about how to manually create a WebPI version to use locally? If that were possible, then it might be easy to enable other members of the community (such as myself), to submit the compiled release to the WebPI application store.
I see that there is documentation about this topic at http://www.iis.net/learn/develop/windows-web-application-gallery/package-an-application-for-the-windows-web-application-gallery , but I was wondering if there was anything specific in the orchard world about this (like, if it's generated, where is it, etc?).

How does a community member go about assisting with such things?

I'm trying to get an update on 1.

On 2. you might have better luck asking the WebPI folks. I think there's a setting in there to point to a local feed, but I don't know the details.

You can download Orchard.Web.1.7.1.zip.
I think it is the same package that is submitted to the Web platform gallery.

Then, if you have WebPI installed, you should have an 'Import Application' feature in IIS.
Just create your local site and import the zip.
