Hi all,

I'm going to implement searching on the contents in files (pdf, word etc) and was wondering if anyone had any pointers on where to start.

I have Index, Search & Lucene modules installed and enabled.

I understand that Lucene reads text and so I'd need to process the files to extract the information before creating the index.

Any help is appreciated.

I think media processing is being worked into the next release.  That might be a great hook in for indexing uploaded media files.

Sounds like a good option for the future. I've got 3 sites that I need to quote this for now though and 1.7 is probably quite a while off considering 1.6 only just came out.
