That sound like a bug in CodePlex.

Yes, that's what the problem is. If you give me a pointer to any message, I will gladly count your vote. Apologies for the trouble.

@Bertrand I guess the same situation is with user 'malvenkemo' above. Google returns an entry and two bug reports - this and this. 

Googling for 'site:orchard.codeplex.com/discussions <username>' gives better information than viewing a profile. Smells like a Codeplex bug.

Tough choice - excellent candidates.

@agriffard you get the idea, seiing people voting 5x time for one is somehow intrigating, isn't it ?

I don't think there is anything we can do about this except verify everyone's identity, which would be both overkill and very costly. Asking for more stringent identification, such as an openId or something like this, would probably not be much more efficient and would prevent many people from casting a perfectly legitimate vote. The Voter ID problems that we know in the US right now come to mind. In the end, being on the steering committee is not, let's face it, an immense power, and I'm not convinced voter fraud on this election is going to significantly affect the outcome, unless one of the candidates is engaging in systematic fraud, which would be, frankly, silly. I don't know, any creative ideas?

OK, we'll consider that for next year. Sounds like a reasonable mitigation to me.

Well, only thing that comes to mind that is somehow 'universal' : SMS verification.

As in you give your mobile phone nr 'privately', you guys send a confirmation code, you confirm with the code.

I know a Belgian service that allows this (see http://www.sms-tools.be no we're not affiliated ;))

Another way could be by having a 'verified' facebook account (since that is only possible if you linked it to a mobile phone or gave them your ID)

@AimOrchard: I would classify the first in the overkill and costly (time-wise) category, and the second in the overly restrictive and counter-productive category as it would prevent many legitimate votes from being cast.

@bertrandleroy Maybe for the next time we should consider max. 1 vote per candidate (so a voter would have to pick exactly five people - ie. his favourite team), what'd you think? Seems reasonable to me.

Is there a reason you couldn't just have people submit formatted e-mails (codeplex user name, each candidate separated by a vote or none)? You could've just written a script to process them all (we are developers, right? :) ).

That would be asking for all kinds of trouble and would have, from my estimate, taken approximately 8 times longer to build. Less is more. And don't complain, I'm the one doing the counting. I'd just like to say that Ylan has done an amazing job with Harvest and it'd be a great thing for Orchard to have a non-developer on the committee.
