Today we put part one of our new Orchard powered website online.

You can find it @

This is just the first part: some things are still missing, plenty of more content to come in the future and more interactive features.

At this moment there are around ~1000 content items (includes translated content items).

If you wish to know how we did certain things : feel free to ask!

Nice website :)

I notice you use several languages

Did you follow the process described ( do you use a specific tool to translate?

I read below, you need to develop your own implementation of ICultureSelector, did you develop one?

"The localization feature is a work in progress, and not all parts of the Orchard application are yet localizable. For example, Orchard does not yet provide an automatic way to filter and display only content items in a given culture (one instance of this is the browser's default culture). We will address this in a future release. In the meantime you can provide your own implementation ofICultureSelector in a module. If you want to give us feedback on localization support in Orchard (for example, to help us understand the scenarios that are important for your site), pleasejoin our mailing list and drop us a line!"

We use the Q42 DbTranslations module for 'hardcoded' strings. And Orchard.Localization for basic multi-language support for content.

For the rest, we use a custom module for the more advanced localization (with support for detecting language sent by the browser, storing language in cookie, based on url, ...) and a custom module for the menu system (support for multi-level menu's, limit item visibility based on culture, hide an item from the menu but DO use it for a breadcrumb, ...)

The menu system is currently the most heavy part of the website and for part 2 we'll be working on optimizing it further.
