Adding a Secondary Menu

Topics: Customizing Orchard
Sep 20, 2012 at 12:01 AM

I'm customizing a theme that populates it's menu with:

@if (Model.Navigation != null) {@Display(Model.Navigation)}

The resulting menu pulls items from 'Main Menu'. I'd like to change that so it pulls items I've added to a secondary menu - call it 'Supplemental Menu'

I need to show both menus - Main as the top horizontal and Supplemental within the Sidebar zone.

I'm sure this has been done by other and would appreciate a pointer to a HowTo.

I'm slightly confused by your question. Surely you just go to Widgets, create a menu widget in the AsideFirst section (assuming you are using TheThemeMachine), select your 'Supplemental Menu' and Bob's your uncle, there is your menu down the side.

Hope that is what you were after

Thanks - - your suggested step work to add the supplemental but not skinned with the custom theme ( | Terra) nor placed in that theme's defined sidebar. I'm hanging onto hope that stepping thru 'Orchard CMS: Up and Running' will enable me to be less confusing. ;) appreciated
