I'm planning to use Orchard and possibly replace my PHP platform (Expression Engine) but I would like to know how well Orchard scales.

Any idea?

Thanks in advance.

Only thing I can say about scaling is that there currently are some issues that occur when you have plenty of user accounts (as in that have plenty of users doesn't scale well).

Thanks for your reply.  I hope as Orchard matures, scaling won't be an issue.  I'm beginning to like Orchard.

It's extremely scalable.  The way I look at it, is it's as scalable as IIS / Windows is.  It's a Framework on top of .NET.  Its scalability is linked to how your environment is setup.  We are setup in a multi-node data centers on East and West coasts of the US.  We have SQL replication running between them.  We never see CPU spikes even under heavy load.

You absolutely need to turn on Orchard Caching.  Once objects are loaded to IIS and/or .NET cache, the load on the DB drops dramatically, allowing for extremely high speeds as content is served from the edges of memory.
