After setting up Orchard as a blog, have "This is your Orchard Blog" at the top of the homepage.  Found this text in a xml file and deleted it, but it still shows up.  How can this be remove/deleted?

The XML file that you edited was the recipe that was used to build the site. Striking "1tsp sugar" in a recipe doesn't remove the sugar from your dish ;) You just need to go into the admin and edit the title of your blog.

Thanks for the quick answer.

I guess I was a unclear, this does not appear to do with the title but shows up as if it was the first blog.  Yet if I look at "manage blogs" it does not show, only the first and only blog shows.

I'm assuming that by "blog" you mean "post". In any case, "This is your Orchard blog" is the description of the blog. Go to /admin, click "Manage Blog", then "blog properties" (top-right of the screen), edit the description, save, and you're done.
