Migration from SqlCe to SQLServer with WebMatrix problem

Topics: Installing Orchard
Apr 23, 2012 at 4:19 AM

I install Orchard with SqlCe, running website on IIS 7 with custom domain name site.local, all working Fine

After that, I use WebMatrix to migrate database to SQL Express

And I cannot run site.local anymore, HTTP 404

The resource cannot be found.

Could only run website using localhost:port from WebMatrix

Does anyone encounter this problem, how to solve it?

Thank in advance.

Did you update your settings.txt to point to the new database?

I have checked, WebMatrix auto update settings.txt, and the site can be run from WebMatrix normally with url localhost:port but not IIS custom domain site.local (IP:, also have record in hosts file)

Before migrate database, site.local work perfectly

Check your logs. Maybe the permissions on the login for the app pool are not set right in SQL.

Nothing in logs. Here is the settings:

Name: Default
DataProvider: SqlServer
DataConnectionString: Data Source=.\SQLExpress;Initial Catalog=Orchard;Integrated Security=True

Check that the user under which the IIS process is running has access to the database.

(also, as a general rule, you should avoid publishing any sort of encryption key on public forums)
