Add functionality without a module

Topics: Writing modules
Feb 3, 2012 at 2:34 AM

I have not used the Orchard CMS before. I have used the DotNetNuke CMS. To add functionality like e-commerce, I had to write special modules. Does Orchard also work that way? Can I run a completely independent MVC3 application inside the Orchard framework?

How hard is to write a module like e-commerce?

Appreciate the feedback.

All CMS work that way, yes. On MVC apps, it depends what app and what you mean by "completely independently". If it's meant to be completely independent, why does it need to run in Orchard?

To learn how to write an e-commerce module, I highly recommend reading this series:

I have started developing modules. I have to follow how I can have areas which is really part of mvc3. It's not that hard.

A module is an Area, that's how they work.
