Hey there,

first... orchard rocks so far. Just diggin' into and loving it.
But, I've got one weird problem by now.

When I want to Install Themes/Modules I get an "The remote server returned an error: (404) Not Found."
Sure my IIS is walled, but it should be capable of doing Http-Request to the outside world, cuz i also get the gallery feed n stuff.

Here is the stack trace

2011-11-23 22:04:00,738 [16] Orchard.Packaging.Controllers.PackagingServicesController - Package installation failed.
Orchard.OrchardException: There was an error installing the requested package. This can happen if the server does not have write access ....s.
---> System.Net.WebException: The remote server returned an error: (404) Not Found. at System.Net.HttpWebRequest.GetResponse() at NuGet.HttpClient.GetRedirectedUri(Uri uri) at NuGet.PackageRepositoryFactory.CreateRepository(PackageSource packageSource) at Orchard.Packaging.Services.PackageInstaller.Install(String packageId, String version, String location, String applicationPath) at Orchard.Packaging.Services.PackageManager.<>c__DisplayClass8.b__7() at Orchard.Packaging.Services.PackageManager.DoInstall(Func`1 installer) --- End of inner exception stack trace --- at Orchard.Packaging.Services.PackageManager.DoInstall(Func`1 installer) at Orchard.Packaging.Controllers.PackagingServicesController.InstallGallery(String packageId, String version, Int32 sourceId, String redirectUrl)

Would be very thankful for any suggestion.

Thanks.

There could be a variety of causes for this, pretty much all unrelated to Orchard. I would recommend downloading the packages and installing them locally.

So, ive managed to debug it.
The InstallGallery Method uses the FeedUrl "http://orchardproject.net/gallery/server/FeedService.svc"

This URL returns 404, on my server, on my local pc, in the browser. So I guess its orchard-related ;)

Any Infos about that?

I am having a similar problem and Bertrand told me that the feed should now be http://packages.orchardproject.net/feedservice.svc

But it didnt work for me: maybe it will for you

It doesnt work for me, and it makes the gallery unable to load, so you might not want to try it.

If you hear anything please let me know

Thanks,

Rick

When I point the my browser at the new feed, it doesnt look like it has any packages in it.:

 <?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8" standalone="yes" ?>

- <service xml:base="http://packages.orchardproject.net/FeedService.svc/" xmlns:atom="http://www.w3.org/2005/Atom" xmlns:app="http://www.w3.org/2007/app" xmlns="http://www.w3.org/2007/app">
- <workspace>
<atom:title>Default</atom:title>
- <collection href="Packages">
<atom:title>Packages</atom:title>
</collection>
- <collection href="Screenshots">
<atom:title>Screenshots</atom:title>
</collection>
</workspace>
</service>

Thanks for checkin' that.

Hope they can fix it soon, as i love installing things by gallery :D

For now, it is good to know, that the error is not on my side.

I "fixed" it but have no idea how - I created a new Orchard site from webmatrix, ran the site, then opened the first site in web matrix and ran the site, and I was able to see the gallery, and even able to install a module.
