I'm most excited about Tokens and their possible (and I hope near-future) use in urls. (I just wanted to send in a patch with the implementation of the ContentManager's GetMany(), awesome you made it!) However after enabling, there seems to be no menu item to tokens on the admin page. Also, for me the admin List view seems a bit weird (why does it include the whole html layout?).

I'm using the latest stable checkout. What could be the problem?

What would you expect under a tokens menu item? (cause there ain't one)

Oh, then the views and the only controller are not used at all? Because I would expect to somehow access the token list and help. Am I correctly understanding that tokens can only be used from code for now, as there is no (accessible) UI?

No, those are used. For example, if you create new rules, the action editors are displaying the available tokens as a popup.
