Styling contents

I am wondering what is the best practice to style the contents of ONE page (e.g. a blog post).

For example, suppose a page has a table that needs to be styled to have cells with a certain type of border.  One could add "style=" to each <td> tag.  Is there a better way to do this?   I have tried to add a <style type="text/css"> block to style all cells, but it is deleted by the editor.

Style tags only belong in the head. I've seen that request pop up very frequently recently, and while I personally think it's a bad practice and that all useful styles for the site should be in the stylesheet, people should be free to do whatever they want. You can achieve that in two ways: switch the flavor of the body part to text and just write whatever you want (but you lose the rich text editing experience), or you would need somebody to create a local stylesheet feature, maybe based on the code in the Classy feature of Vandelay Industries.
