Orchard 1.2 is out!

Version 1.2 of Orchard is now officially available. You can find the download and release notes here:

This release is mainly about bug fixes and performance improvements, but it is also introducing a couple of nice features.

Creation date is now the date that we use for everything in the front-end, which should bring more consistency. That date can now be made editable on your content types by modifying the settings of the Common part.

Shapes are now much easier to use from the debugger thanks to our new debugger visualizers (available in full trust only).

For a list of bugs fixes that this release brings, please go to and leave everything to “All” except for the Release that should be set to “Orchard 1.2”.

Migration instructions can be found on this page: I will soon update the page with a new set of instructions for Azure and in-place upgrades but the instructions found there should work for most of you.

Localization (available from is not yet updated for 1.2 but will be soon. I will send a separate message to the localization mailing list when it’s done.

Many thanks for supporting Orchard and for building a great community!

I want to hug whoever implemented shape visualizers...

Congrats team! I'm sure 1.1 was only out last week ... :)

Congratulation! Quite a big performance improvement!

@digital11: that would be Sébastien Ros. He did Shape Tracing as well :)

Do the debugger visualizers only work in full Visual Studio? I can't see them in Express editions.

Should work:

You should also ensure you are debugging under Full Trust

Congrats !

But this also gives me a bit a dilemma. I've only just deployed my new website with Orchard v.1.1.30 and there is already a new version...
What now? Shall I jus remain on v1.1.30 or is there a need to upgrade to avoid technical debt?

Jumping over the new features, I had the following thoughts:

- I'm already very satisfied with the performance on my shared host (sohosted) so that's not a driver for me.

- I already had the Designer Tools module installed.. does this sort of correspond with the new Debugger visualizers for shapes?

- Lastly , I see that Creation date is now used everywhere and can be made editable. That could be a plus, since I just screwed my blog post dates... but perhaps I can use the Orchard v1.1.30 import /export feature as well...

Am I procrastinating now ?

@sebastien: Was definitely in full trust. When I expanded the Dynamic node in the debugger it said there was no further information to display. Am I missing something somewhere?
