Blog Publish Date

Is there no way to change or fix a blog post published date?

If I make a change to an old post (e.g. disabling comments) it then updates the publish date, and throws out the order on the website.

Very similar to this discussion:

Should be pretty straightforward to add an additional date field for "effective date" (vs actually changing the published or created date which have specific and useful meanings in terms of audit data)

Yes, or "display date" perhaps.

Should be simple for someone! I'm still learning my way round this thing.

In the mean time, how can I edit the data directly (using compact sql option). Can't seem to work out a way to edit the database.

i needed to change the published dates as well for a bunch of articles i imported from another site. I'll update here if ai find a bettter solution. I tracked down the db fields but this will be a bit too tedious.

ok install the import/export tool and you can export all your news items, update the dates, and re-upload them. they advise doing a backup first. It worked for me.
