What seems like an eternity ago (actually 3-4 years ;-) I used the Ajax toolkit to implement a sideshow on a asp.net website ( http://www.asp.net/ajax/ajaxcontroltoolkit/samples/SlideShow/SlideShow.aspx ).

I would like to have a sideshow like this on an Orchard website, and would like to know:

  1. Has anyone already implemented one for Orchard?
  2. Is there a better way to go about this than using AJAX?

This shouldn't be a tough task.

I'd implement a custom part, throw some necessary scripts inside and wrap it into a widget. Fetching data is the only problem. You could either load images via AJAX or preload them when displaying the part (eg. passing necessary URLs to the shape as a named parameter (in driver's Display method) eg. shapeHelper.MySlideshowPart(Images: theUrlsCollection).

In the .cshtml shape file for your part you'd then have Model.Images property.
